www.facebook.com

Facebook was set up in 2004. Mark was founded by mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. It all started in Harvard University and gradually move from university to university and eventually to different countries all around the world.
Facebook wasn't very popular until 2009, when it was the most used social networking site in the world.
Facebook is now owned and operated by Facebook Inc.

On Facebook you can update you own personal profile, upload photos, add others users as friends, add videos or music to you profile and lots more. But you have to be over the age of 13 to have an account of Facebook. But according to a May 2011 Consumer Reports survey, there are 7.5 million children under the age of 13 with Facebook accounts and 5 million under 10.
Mark Zuckerberg first made a website called 'Facemash' which was like a Hot or Not competition on the Internet. Zuckerberg used photos of people in the nine houses in Harvard and got people to choose who was hotter. He got the photos from the pupils ID photos. This website was shut down a few days after due to copyright, security reasons, violation of individual privacy.
On February 4, 2004, Zuckerberg launched "Thefacebook", originally located at thefacebook.com. A couple of days after the site started up, three Harvard students, Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendra accused Zuckerberg of purposely misleading them into believing he would help the st up the social network 'HarvardConnection.com' when instead zuckerberg was using their ideas to set up his own site. The tree later filed a lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg, subsequently settling.
Around 2005 Facebook changed from being 'thefacebook' to Facebook.
On April 24th 2012, the amount of Facebook users are up to 900 million. The monthly growth is 1.74%. the highest amount of the monthly growth was 178.38% which was in August 2008.
